BTEC Extended Diploma Performing Arts Level 3

 

Our fully funded further and higher education courses can be tailored to a dance or acting orientation in order to meet a performer's individual strengths. A ‘dream-team’ of teachers has been handpicked and are committed to delivering the highest of standards in their chosen disciplines. Students will receive guidance and support in all modules across our two year programmes. We aim to deliver a balance of secure technique, performance modules and contextual studies, developing the individual’s personal qualities and attributes essential for successful employment in the performing arts industry. Audition technique and support with the employment process will help students prepare constructively for the next stage of their career.

What is the course about?

This course provides the first class Shelagh Elliott-Clarke performing arts training at Btec and HND level. We recognise that the standard 17 hous per week offered by other training facilities is simply not enough to become a rounded performer competing for work in the modern entertainment industry. A vast perfoming arts timetable could keep you busy 6 days a week from 9am-8.30pm. During this course you will study a wide range of subjects that will give you an in-depth understanding of working in the performing arts industry. Through projects and workshops you will develop your skills in acting, dancing and singing as well as gaining an understanding of the performing arts business and professional development. You will be required to audition for shows and to promote the department and the college through a wide range of performances in and around the Liverpool area.

  • Acting

  • Business

  • Dancing

  • Health Awareness

  • Musical Theatre Workshops

  • Research and Analysis

  • Singing

What qualifications will I need?

5 GCSEs grade C or above including English or an equivalent vocational qualification ( e.g. Level 2 Diploma in Media at Merit or Distinction) and appropriate level Functional Skills qualifications

 

How long will the course last?

This is a two year course. It is expected that students will attend for 30 hours per week for 36 weeks each year and an abundance of extra curriculum and regular master classes with industry professionals.

 

What next?

At the end of your course you will have the option to progress onto university or vocational school. There is also a very wide range of employment possibilities open to you such as; Actor, Dancer, Set Designer, DJ ,Production Assistant, Stage Manager and Teacher. Guidence in all of these opportunities is readily availible throughout.
